Canada receives around 291,121 new visitors every month, with the numbers rising every year to beat national records, with 32.44 million foreign nationals visiting Canada in 2019 alone. You can visit Canada for a business trip, family or friend's wedding, or tourist attractions using a Canadian visitor visa. The visit could span from a few days to several months; you can even study with a visitor visa as long as the course is shorter than six months long. But for you to acquire a Canadian visitor visa, you must meet some specific immigration requirements.

Visitor Visa Permit Types

There are two main types of visas for visitors. The first is a single entry visa that allows foreign nationals to enter Canada one time only. In contrast, the multiple entry visa permits foreign nationals entry to the country for six months at a time as many times as you may wish.
Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) : For persons looking to transit or fly into Canada by air and without a Visa, an electronic travel authorization document is required to access the country. It is connected to the visitor's passport and is only valid for five years or if the passport has not expired. However, eTA doesn't guarantee entry to Canada, and you could be asked for other supporting documents.
Temporary Resident Visa : Also known as the visitor visa, it is an official document issued by a Canadian visa office that shows that you are eligible to travel and stay in Canada for a limited period of no more than six months.

Eligibility

Individuals who are not citizens of Canada or permanent residents of Canada require a visa to gain entry to the country; whether for single entry or multiple entries, you need to meet specific requirements to be eligible for a temporary Canadian resident visa. Visitor Visa is only eligible to individuals looking to be in Canada for short periods as a tourist, a business trip, or simply visiting friends or family.
To be eligible, you need to show that you are a genuine visitor, tourist, or businessperson who intends to leave Canada at the end of your stay and is not a threat to Canadian security. You also need to review the list of countries whose citizens require a visa, especially if you invite family members or friends to visit. They must apply and be granted a visa before arriving in Canada.
